Administrative Assistant – Office
Are you wishing to learn how an arts organization operates? Huron Waves Music Festival has one student administrative position funded through Canada Summer Jobs available. The placement is for 9 weeks, 30 hours/week, and may begin as soon as May 9, 2022. The student must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years old. Access to transportation and a valid driver’s license will be helpful. The Student will work closely with the festival’s G.M. who is located in Blyth, though working from home anywhere in Huron County is entirely possible to carry out some of the tasks while travelling within the County is also an active part of this position.
Huron Waves management team has a combined 80+ year experience managing arts organizations in southwestern Ontario. The successful candidate will participate in developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies, event management – ticket sales, volunteer recruitment and orientation, coordinating hospitality, travel and accommodation needs for visiting musicians and monitoring financial aspects of a multi-event Music Festival. Huron Waves will work to provide the student a deeper understanding of the Festival’s mandate and its importance to the social and economic viability of our community.
This position provides an opportunity for a student to further develop organizational, digital, communications, teamwork, networking, time management and leadership skills.

Administrative/Marketing Intern
A paid Administration/Marketing Intern with Huron Waves Music Festival will assist in all aspects of producing a spring music festival; supporting the management team and Board of Directors by performing day-to-day administration, marketing and social media duties, developing a Volunteer program and assisting with Fund Development initiatives.
The 2022 Festival runs June 9 – June 26, 2022.
The Administration/Marketing Intern will be involved with presenting multiple concert events as well as two fundraising events. Tasks include:
. Performing data entry and word-processing functions, and creating a variety of documents including promotional tools and spreadsheets.
. Performing promotional duties which may include preparation and distribution of posters and flyers as well as creating, executing and scheduling digital and social media content.
. Creating, negotiating and executing promotional initiatives with media and event sponsors.
. Assisting with the development and implementation of the pandemic protocol plan for special events.
. Recruiting, orientating, scheduling and supervising event volunteers.
. Providing customer service assistance by performing reception duties, responding to public inquiries and performing cashier duties.
. Creating a statistical analysis on sales for each event.
The Student will work closely with the festival’s G.M. who is located in Blyth, though working from home anywhere in Huron County is entirely possible to carry out some of the tasks while travelling within the County is also an active part of this position.
This six week (32 day) position is funded by the Province of Ontario’s Summer Experience program. The Student must be currently enrolled in a relative program at a post-secondary institution or within six months of graduation; be under the age of 25, and have a valid driver’s license.
